Imagine hearing your name being announced over the loudspeakers to step forward onto the stage. You hear the deafening roar of approval from the crowd and as you look out to the audience, they are standing in ovation and clapping in recognition of your achievement. You feel all the pride and honour that accompanies this moment. You have taken the steps, put in years of commitment, perseverance, determination and journeyed to this very moment: You have received a life time achievement award! What a tremendous feeling!
Have you ever wondered why some people are successful and some are not? Why some seem to have the midas touch in whatever they do or put their hands on? Yet, at the same time, there are people still struggling to make it to the next day or living pay cheque to pay cheque.
Have you ever asked yourself these questions:
What is success?
What is the secret of being successful?
What is my definition of success?
Is it having lots of money? A new car? A big house?
Who can be successful?
Can anyone be successful?
What does it take to be successful?
Am I willing to do whatever it takes to be successful?
Success Is a JourneySuccess is a journey and a process that you take, step by step, everyday, in little areas. As the saying goes, "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". If you want to be successful, the first step is getting started by planning and preparing for what you want. The important thing is that you identify your innermost of deepest desire. It is this desire which will be the driving force to propel you forward, keep you focused and engaged in the discipline of moving you closer to your ultimate goal. Most people dislike the word "discipline" as if somehow it's a punishment. However, it is through self discipline that one can make real progress towards success. It is in doing the things that most people refuse to do or are too lazy to do that you will begin to see yourself succeed. Success is managing your own life, your time, your finances, your family, involving all aspects of your mental, emotion, spiritual and physical being.
Success requires a combination of putting forth your best effort, desire, time, faith, commitment, endurance and determination. Yes, anyone can be successful. A poor man can be wealthy! "Is there a secret to be successful", you may ask? Indeed, there is! Earl Nightingale called it the "Strangest Secret". It's strange because it's so simple and yet most people aren't getting it. The secret is that you become what you think about. It's not about trying to find which formula that works, but rather if you are willing to work on the formula. Determine now to change how you think. Determine that you will from now on think and focus on your goals for success, and not on your past failures.
PerceptionImagine yourself seeing all your friends partying their lives away while you are taking time to study, to learn and to acquire what it takes to become successful. It is not a fair picture, isn't it? Your perception might be that it simply isn't fair that you are working while everyone else is enjoying themselves. However, time will tell. While they are still trying to find money for their next party, or to make it through another day, you will be enjoying or reaping the work of your hands. That is perception: sowing what you reap. Your perception of success is long term and see forward as to how your actions today will affect your future success.
Good habits can be learned but it is all in the choices that you make. Success is taking the time to acquire the knowledge and skills to be an expert in your job or business. Success requires you to put in the time and effort necessary to be the best you can be. Remember: what you focus on expands. If you do what others don't do, you are able to do what others can't do for the rest of your life. No one can change you but you have got to want to change and must take action to do so.
Service to OthersSuccess is doing and giving your best, utilizing your strengths while improving your weaknesses. Success is making the world a better place wherever you are as you help others to become all that they can be! Successful people work to discover and develop their talents and use those talents to benefit others as well as themselves. If you want to be successful in anything, you must decide to serve others. Self serving attitudes in business will not last.
Success is taking small steps to work continually from inside out. It is not just about external possessions, but about building a foundation of internal values that spill over to the external. When that internal foundation is built, then all other areas will fall into place.
Actions1) Take a moment to ask yourself what you passion is. What do you love doing? What is your talent? What do you want in life? If you don't know what you want in life, you will end up living someone else's life.
2) What is your goal - what do you want to achieve?
3) What are you willing to give up and willing to work on in order to be successful?
4) What steps do you need to take each day to work towards your goals and dreams?
5) How can you use your talent, you gift for others?
